WHY THIS WORK EXISTS

A life rebuilt.
A table made wider.

Gabby’s Place did not begin as an organization. It began with a promise: families carrying the weight of reserve duty should not have to carry it alone.

After October 7, Gavriella redirected years of healthcare, leadership, and community-building experience toward Israel. In July 2024, she arrived on a one-way ticket. What started with meals for reservist families grew through listening—into equipment, practical family support, partnerships, and a permanent home for care.

Today, she builds the strategy and relationships behind Gabby’s Place while remaining close to the work itself: the families, the volunteers, the kitchen, and the next need in front of us.

A SHORT BIO

Purpose,
made practical.

Gavriella (Gail) Zahtz is the founder of Gabby’s Place and the writer of Dear Chevra. Her work asks how purpose becomes lived—shaping what people do next, how communities care for one another, and why some teams and cultures thrive against all odds.

Before moving to Israel, she founded a healthcare startup and became a nationally recognized voice in value-based healthcare. Her own life was interrupted by catastrophic illness: more than 50 surgeries, years using a wheelchair, and long periods unable to eat solid food or see clearly. Rebuilding taught her that resilience is not a performance. It is people, purpose, and the next right action.

Using modern Israel as a living laboratory, her signature keynote, The Architecture of Purpose, reveals why purpose is the hidden architecture behind resilient people, innovative organizations, and thriving cultures.

ALONG THE WAY

From patient voice
to public service.

The settings have changed. The thread has not: make systems more human, tell the truth clearly, and turn hardship into service.

A NOTE FROM GAVRIELLA

Do the next right thing.

Gabby’s Place is not separate from what I teach. It is what purpose looks like when it becomes daily practice: listen, show up, and build what people need next.
